2010 Events Calendar

Kings and queens of the potluck, we gather when we can in the home of one of our island family members to break bread, drink, laugh, talk, and otherwise share the bounty of this island life.

Join us at any of these events. The rules are simple: bring a dish to share, something to drink for you and whoever you bring along, and plan on an entertaining evening meeting kindred souls.

From time to time we get visitors from other islands. If you are a Lopezian or San Juanderer reading this, don't let us Orcasions put you off! Join us for an evening of fine dining.

This month’s Potluck will vary the usual format a bit to allow our members who work Saturdays a chance to join us. Our plan is to make this change several times during the year. Other than the day and time change, the potluck format will remain the same.

River and Chris plan to provide a “substantial” brunch dish. Everyone should plan on bringing a hors d'oeuvre, an entrée, a side or as River writes, “whatever tickles your fancy.” And, of course, bring your favorite beverage. The hosts, as usual, will provide all table accoutrement.

From Eastsound, follow Olga Road to Lindsay Way (at the top of Flaherty's Hill, at the long row of mailboxes is the entrance to Orcas Highlands, left turn only). Turning left on Lindsay, proceed uphill about 1/4 mile to the red yield sign. (At this point, Lindsay veers left and Discovery begins to the right). Their driveway, 11 Discovery Way, is the first driveway on the left (if you go straight from the red yield sign you are essentially at the driveway). Parking is available at the top of the driveway (where the house is--don't try to get into the garage-guesthouse-office at base of driveway as it will be locked and deserted), in front of the garage, or at the base of the driveway (There is also parking on Lindsay Way).

Cell phone service is spotty on Orcas Island, so don't leave home without directions.
